1940's Henry Moore Inspired Fabric
A 1940’s fabric that captures many design elements that Henry Moore worked on in the immediate Post War world.
In 1943 Henry Moore began working with Zika and Lida Ascher of Ascher Textiles, together with other artists, including Henri Matisse, they created colourful abstract designs that were screen printed on 36 inch square silk scarves,
The Aschers and Moore continued to work together through the Forties producing dress, upholstery fabrics and wall hangings. Many of Moore’s favourite subjects were included, abstract trains, caterpillars, sea creatures, figures often with a linear element of piano keys or barbed wired running through the design. He would encapsulate elements of some designs and other linear works were further simplified to basic lines.
