This fabulous Mid Century Modern ceramic figurine was produced by Porzellanfabric Cortendorf in Germany in the early 1950s.

Designed by Albert Strunz, from the “African Beauties” series probably based the Southern Ndebele tribe of Chad & South Africa, the women traditionally wearing heavy neck rings from puberty. Superbly modelled & fully hand painted in satin black with gloss highlights.

About 16.5cm tall. Back-stamped with the Cortendorf ‘Crowned C’ mark and Made in Western Germany.
