Sculpture, Artist makers work stand stool
The stand is studio made from salvaged timber using a simple construction technique, early recycling in action. Nicely distressed, with paint splattering, yet still sturdy and very useable.
I have used this as a side table, juxtaposed against mid century furniture it really gives a lift to the upholstered lines. It shares a design ethos, simple lines, spare construction, nothing wasted, visible assembly and still working 100 years later.
Lightweight and easy to carry. The stand was often used through the 1920’s as a Tic Tac’ man’s step up at Great Yarmouth Racecourse in Norfolk.
37cm x 32.5cm x 35.5cm high

Used at horse-race meetings. Tic-Tacs stood on boxes or stools by the rails to elevate their position, and by using the coded arm movements were able to tell their bookmaker vital information.
